Cues for Song

The pledge for memorization:

YM (Taylor Brooks) goes to the podium and says: "In the 1950s, the Latter-day Saint Mayor of Calgary, Don MacKay, initiated the tradition of presenting visitors with a white cowboy hat.  We would like to invite our visiting dignitaries to join in this custom. Please accept the white hat as a token of our appreciation and love for you."  [Eight youth enter carrying the white hats in a dignified manner.  They present a white hat to each of the eight recipients.] "In a traditional Calgary white-hat ceremony, the recipient of the hat makes a pledge. Tonight, we would rather give our pledge to you." [Each youth takes off their hat with their right hand, holds it over their heart and repeats in unison]
"We pledge to hearken to the counsel of the prophets and strive to live temple-worthy.

The lyric cues from "Arise and Shine" for the wards of our stake:

Even one light can shine in the darkness,
Giving us hope as it shows us the way.
Grateful we sing of the saints gone before [3rd] us
Who planted the seeds that we harvest today [Banff].

[BV] Brought from all lands by the hand of the Father,
Gathered as youth, we will hold to the rod [8th].
Trusting the plan that was laid out before us,
Valiant we stand in the armour of God.

Arise and shine like a light upon a hill.
Stand for truth, firmly rooted, sure and still.
[17th] Let faith hold fast to make hearts pure and lead the way
[RV] Like a beacon in the night, until the bright of day.

Raising our eyes to the spires of the Temple,
Heavenly power upon us is poured.
Flowing through us, it will lift every nation [Cochrane],
Sharing the light [Brentwood] of the House of the Lord [RO].

Arise and shine like a light upon [Tuscany] a hill.
Stand for truth, firmly rooted, sure [Bow River] and still.
Let faith hold fast to make hearts pure and lead the way.
Like a beacon in the night, until the bright of day.
