Ranching Scene (All Youth)

Everyone needs to assemble their own costume for the Cowman/Rancher scene.

YM in Groups A & D (Dragon, Fan & Nativity) are going to be Farmers.
YM in Groups B  & C (Gymnasts, Lion, Percussion, Hockey, Ribbon, Narrators, Rancher large group) are going to be Cowboys/Ranchers

Boys wear either a plaid, striped, or plain colored button up shirt with trek pants if you have them.  I you do not own trek pants you may wear kaki type cotton pants.  They may be tan, brown, black, olive green, or dark blue.  Please no cargo pants.  Some boys may wear jeans as long as they are dark black, or dark blue with a traditional cut.  No skinny or skater style jeans. If you have dark colored bib overalls, please wear them; vests are also good.  Cowboy boots and a cowboy hat would be great.  Straw hats are good for farmers.  If you do not have cowboy boots, please wear your black shoes.

Girls wear prairie dresses or floor length full skirts with blouses.  Old fashioned aprons, and bonnets or bloomers.  See what you can find left over from trek.  Dresses and hats from the turn of the century are also good.  Shawls would also work great. If you can, try to watch "the farmer and the cowman" on YouTube for ideas.

1906-era western wear costumes:

  • cowboy hats
  • bowler hats

Once you have gathered your farmer / rancher costume, please show it to your ward costume rep and they will hang onto it for you and bring it to the production.  Please show your ward rep the white shirt and black pants you are planning on wearing to the Corral so that they may approve it.  If you are having difficulty finding a costume, please speak with you ward rep, as we have some that can be used.
